How to Mentally Break Your Tennis Opponent

In this weeks video from Mission Elite and CEO Raheel Manji, we go over the importance of understanding the traits you must have in order to be able to mentally break your opponent.

#1 SHOW NO WEAKNESS

It doesn't matter what part of the match you are in, you are not allowed to show anything to your opponent. Your opponent is constantly looking over the net to see signals that they have an edge in the match and that they are affecting you. Emotionally, you cannot allow this to happen. Every complaint, sigh, burst of anger, shows your opponent that they are gaining on you, or worse, in control of the match.

#2 WHEN THEY ARE DOWN, SHOW YOUR TEETH

If they look weak, defeated, on the verge of giving up, you have to realize this is the perfect time to elevate your game and stick it to them even more. Don't be afraid to get in their face and show them your are going to a pain to have to deal with on the tennis court.

#3 WHEN THEY ARE UP, TAKE IT SLOW

When you are losing, you need to change the tempo of the match and make it much slower. Allow your opponent to overthink and make the wrong decisions because of it.

#4 SHOW NO QUIT

Don't do what the average tennis player does. Don't roll over and allow your opponent to cross the finish line. You will be surprised what a burst of energy, effort, and passion can do to your opponent when they are trying to close you out in the tennis match. When times are tough, find a way to become the tennis player that goes even harder, and gives it their all.
